The Festival

The first festival of its kind.

Saaj — The Festival of PANJABIYAT — is a three-day celebration of Panjab’s heritage, arts and culture, held at Qila Mubarak and Ran Baas The Palace in Patiala from 2 to 4 April 2027.

Why Saaj, why now

Panjabiyat — the spirit, language, arts and generosity of Panjab — is loved across the world, yet it has never had one great festival to gather its voices. Saaj brings them together under one sky, with the grace they deserve, and places Panjab’s heritage on the world’s cultural map.

What does Saaj mean?

Saaj is an instrument, an ensemble, an adornment: the many parts that make one harmony. The festival takes its name from that idea.

Our principles

01

Rooted

Masters, lineages and living crafts come first. The ethnic fabric stays intact.

02

Reimagined

Tradition in conversation with the contemporary: music, couture, light, film and design.

03

For every generation

A festival the whole family shares, from grandparents to grandchildren.

04

Never crowded

3,000 guests across three days, never more, by design.

05

Made to last

Livelihoods for makers and artists, and an institution that works through the year.

06

Open to the world

Born in Panjab, built to travel with Country Partners and Saaj Journeys.

How it feels

Sessions under the trees, ateliers where you sit beside a master, long tables of royal and village kitchens, the old games in the courtyard, and evenings of music beneath the ramparts.
